RE: Use of Prime 1 and PrimePerfect in Type II Diabetic Patients

One of my customers, who has Type II ( non-insulin dependent) diabetes, has asked about the influence of the sugar content of PrimePerfect on blood sugar levels. Since the customer is overweight, a weight reduction could very well return his insulin sensitivity to normal and possibly eliminate the diabetes. PrimePerfect is the best food supplement on the market to help him reduce his weight. He expressed some concern about the sugar content of the product, since he has endeavored to control the TypeII diabetes with diet by closely monitoring and minimizing his sugar intake.

I have discussed this matter with Ken Kroll, MD, Medical Director for PrimeQuest, and the following is a summary of that discussion.

Prime 1, which should also be taken by all customers on the Conquest program, has been shown through research to have a normalizing effect on both types of diabetes, but especially Type II. This phenomena occurs because of the nonspecific normalizing effect that the adaptogens have on all cells of the body. The ability of the cells to take glucose from the bloodstream, which is impaired even with a normal insulin supply in Type II diabetes, is returned closer to the pre diabetic state; thus the appropriate amount of insulin, secreted from the pancreas, permits a greater uptake of glucose by the cells of the body (mostly muscle, as these comprise the bulk of the body's cell mass). In this way, the blood sugar returns to more normal levels and glucose utilization is returned closer to normal.

PrimePerfect contains 23 gms of carbohydrates (CHO). Five grams of CHO are contained in fiber, and thus are not taken up in the GI tract. Another five grams are comprised of complex CHO and are only slowly utilized, and so do not contribute to the acute postprandial blood sugar load.

Thus, 13 grams of utilizable CHO, like fructose and glucose polymers, are present in each packet of PrimePerfect. The product has the highest protein content of all dietary supplements (18 gm), so that the ratio of protein/CHO is greater than one; this favorite balance of protein to CHO is difficult to find in any other dietary/weight loss supplement.

The Type II diabetic will ingest some glucose during the day, no matter how carefully he tries to avoid CHO. By substituting PrimePerfect for two meals (preferably breakfast and lunch), he will obtain high nutrition and maximal benefit because of the high protein and low CHO content. Two packets of PrimePerfect contain only 340 calories and will provide 100% mg of vitamin C four times a day, but he does not believe any further vitamin supplements are necessary.

An excellent suggestion for the evening meal, in this program, would include turkey or chicken breast, broccoli or spinach, and maybe beans or some other legume.
